Prompt:
As you have seen demonstrated in the course readings and material thus far, the study of oratory and public speaking is a vital component of ensuring a democratic society. With this being said, when do you think the study of public speaking, oratory, and rhetoric should be implemented in course curriculum? For example, many of you may not have ever taken an official, formal course in public speaking until this course. However, it is a necessary course not just for learning the skill-set but in being a critical consumer of messages. So if you could re-write school standards and place the study of public speaking at a grade level, what grade would it be and why? When do you think children, teens, young adults, etc should begin studying this discipline?
